Platform
Everything a campaign link needs to be trusted.
How each piece works, from the way a link gets built to the way revenue gets attributed back to it.
Link management
Every link built the same way, by everyone.
One person writes utm_source=Facebook, another writes facebook, and your report splits into two rows that are both wrong. Workspace-level templates settle the naming once. Validation catches the typo before the link ships, not at month-end.
- Branded short links with custom shortcodes
- Workspace-level UTM templates and validation
- Campaign grouping with side-by-side comparison
- Bulk link creation through the API
- REST API and scoped API keys for programmatic creation
UTM governance
Define the templates once, covering source, medium and campaign naming, and every link created in the workspace follows them. The check happens at creation time, which is the only point where fixing it is free.
Bulk operations
Create links in batches through the REST API, whether you're migrating a catalogue or building out a campaign. Batch size scales with your plan. There's no CSV upload and no importer for other shorteners.
Branded domains
Send traffic through a domain people trust.
A generic shortener domain tells your audience nothing about where they're going, and plenty of people have learned to treat it as spam. Your own domain answers the question before the click. It's on every plan, including Free.
- Connect your own domain
- TLS on every branded domain
- Per-workspace domain assignment
- A default domain per client or brand
- Available on every plan, including Free
One domain per client
Agencies can give each client workspace its own branded domain, so a link sent on a client's behalf carries the client's brand rather than yours.
The domain is the asset
If a generic shortener is blocklisted, rate-limited or shut down, every link you ever published through it dies with it. A domain you own is a domain you can re-point.
Analytics
From the click to the money.
A click count tells you a link was pressed. Post the conversion to the Conversion API with a value, a currency and an external id, and the £68 order attaches to the link that earned it.
- Real-time clicks and unique visitors
- Device, geography and referrer breakdowns
- Conversion tracking with value and currency
- Revenue attribution back to link and campaign
- Funnels, plus public or scheduled reports
Conversions, server-side
Because the conversion is posted from your server rather than the browser, an ad blocker can't drop it and a browser policy change can't break it. The external id means a retried webhook doesn't count twice.
Reports you can hand over
Share a live report with a client or stakeholder without giving them a seat in your workspace, or schedule it to send itself.
QR codes
The offline half of the campaign.
Packaging, posters, events, receipts. Print is permanent, so the code has to encode something you can still change afterwards. It encodes a short link, not the destination.
- High-resolution PNG export, print-ready
- Generated for any link, including from the free tool
- Points at a branded short link you can re-target later
- No account required to generate one
Re-target after printing
Change where the code points after the print run. A code on a box that outlives the campaign behind it is the most expensive kind of broken link, and this is the fix.
Stop broken links from silently wasting campaign spend.
A link that 404s doesn't send you an alert. It just quietly converts your budget into bounces until someone notices. ClickTrail checks the destination before you ship, and keeps checking after you do.
Destination unavailable
The page returns a 5xx or refuses the connection. Every click is wasted spend.
UTM removed during redirect
A hop drops the query string, so the session lands in your analytics as direct traffic.
Mobile destination differs
The mobile response differs from desktop, a redirect to an app store or a stripped page.
Destination changed after launch
The page you approved is not the page your audience is landing on today.
Promo page expired
The offer ended, the page 404s, and the ad is still running.
Too many redirects
Each hop adds latency and another chance to lose parameters or referrer data.
SSL issue
An expired or mismatched certificate turns a click into a browser warning.
Slow response
The destination takes seconds to respond, and paid traffic bounces before it paints.
Everything else in the platform
Governance, routing and the plumbing underneath.
The blocks above cover creation, domains, analytics and QR codes. This is the rest.
Governance
Keep every link consistent across the whole team.
Campaign management
Group links into campaigns and compare performance side by side.
REST API and API keys
Create and manage links programmatically with scoped, revocable keys.
Webhooks
Push link and conversion events into your own systems as they happen.
Team roles
Owner, editor and viewer roles keep the right hands on the right links.
Workspace management
Separate workspaces per brand, client or region, isolated from each other.
Routing
Send each visitor to the page that's right for them.
Percentage traffic splitting
Send a fixed share of visitors to each destination, with every visitor kept on the same side of the split. ClickTrail doesn't pick a winner for you.
Geographic and device routing
Send visitors to the right page for their country or device.
Reliability
Prove the destination works, before you ship and after.
Redirect chain inspection
See every hop between the click and the page, and what each one drops.
Security and abuse protection
Rate limiting, SSRF-safe fetching and link scanning protect your domains.
Measurement
Connect every click to a real business outcome.
Public and scheduled reports
Share a live report with a client or stakeholder without giving them a seat.
Limits vary by plan, mostly on how many destinations are monitored and how often.
